On April 23, representatives of the Government of Haiti, including the Minister of Economy and Finance and the Minister of Commerce, alongside officials from the Customs Administration, convened a high-level meeting with members of the private sector, including representatives from American Chamber of Commerce in Haiti (AmCham).
The meeting aimed to present the key elements of a proposed border security and national defense contract between the Government of Haiti and a consortium comprising Evergreen and ENSE Group.
During the session, government officials outlined the strategic objectives of the initiative, which is intended to strengthen border control, enhance national security infrastructure, and improve customs oversight. The discussion also addressed the potential implications for the private sector, particularly in relation to trade facilitation, compliance, and operational continuity.
Private sector representatives welcomed the opportunity for dialogue and emphasized the importance of continued consultation to ensure that the implementation of such initiatives supports economic activity while reinforcing national security priorities. Participants also explored areas where the private sector could contribute expertise and operational support to the successful execution of the project.
The meeting reflects an ongoing commitment to collaboration between public authorities and private sector stakeholders in addressing critical national challenges and advancing sustainable economic development.
