Proposal to the Ministry of Economy and Finance

On August 17, 2023, AmCham Haiti, ADIH, ATH, CCIO, and CFHCI, submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. This document emphasizes the urgent need to eliminate customs duties on solar energy equipment. This step is justified by the ongoing energy crisis in Haiti, characterized by limited access to electricity and regular disruptions in fossil fuel supplies. To overcome this situation, it is vital to facilitate the acquisition of equipment focused on renewable energies, for both individual, commercial, and industrial use. Revising the customs tariffs is a crucial initiative to make these solutions more accessible to the Haitian people.
