AmCham Haiti facilitated a strategic meeting at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC, bringing together members of a joint public-private Haitian delegation and AACCLA leadership in support of ongoing efforts to renew the Haiti HOPE/HELP preferential tariff program.
Participants from the U.S. Chamber and AACCLA included Anne McKinney, Executive Vice President; César Vence, Executive Director; and Cole Matino, Associate Manager. The Haitian delegation, led by Minister of Commerce Monazard, included private-sector representatives George Sassine, Richard Coles, and Fernando Capellan.
Discussions centered on the economic importance of the HOPE/HELP program and the potential consequences of its expiration for Haiti’s already fragile economy. The delegation emphasized the program’s role in preserving jobs, sustaining export activity, and supporting economic stability. Conversations also focused on practical pathways to build bipartisan congressional support for renewal as part of the upcoming Continuing Resolution.
