AmCham Haiti Executive Director Erika Rosenthal has identified critical gaps in the SME ecosystem, uncovering substantial opportunities for improved coordination and resource sharing.

An analysis of the current SME landscape reveals notable deficiencies in both coordination and resource allocation. By leveraging the combined strengths of Chambers of Commerce, Base Support Organizations, and Haitian diaspora organizations abroad, we can create a more cohesive and effective network. Enhancing communication and collaboration among these entities will help streamline initiatives and reinforce strategic partnerships.

To address these challenges, we propose establishing a Technical Secretariat focused on supporting the private sector. This entity will offer essential administrative, technical, and strategic support to Chambers of Commerce and Base Support Organizations. The Technical Secretariat will aim to improve coordination, develop skills, and foster collaboration, acting as a catalyst for better communication and maximizing collective impact.

The Technical Secretariat will work to:

• Improve communication channels among private sector entities.
• Align actions to ensure they are complementary and avoid duplication.
• Promote cooperation between the private sector, public agencies, and international organizations to bolster economic and social resilience.
