Amcham Haiti hosted its 1st Trade Delegaton from Miami Dade County with the assistance from Miami Dade County and its Economic Development Trade Unit. We also got assistance from the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) and the Consulate of Haiti in Miami. The Delegation was let by Commissioner Jean Monestine of Dade County who participated at a delegation to Panama and felt that he should push for a delegation to Haiti.
The event was a success on many aspects. First, we had 18 US companies that came to Haiti and 5 officials from Dade County. Second, we had 57 local companies that participated to meet the US companies. Third, we set up over 90 meetings and 90% of the meetings took place!
We are already aware that 3 US companies were able to get some deals done on the 1st day of the meeting. The Haitian government and officials were pleased with the event, a good turn out and we are already planning for future delegations.
Such Delegations are important to get potential investors to visit Haiti and see the opportunities for themselves.So far all delegates from Miami were very satisfied with the meetings and their stay in Haiti.
