On February 3–4, 2026, the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA) Governing Board convened its annual Strategic Planning Meeting in Miami, Florida.

Andress Appolon, President of AmCham Haiti and Vice President of the AACCLA Governing Board, attended alongside Erika V. Rosenthal, Executive Director of AmCham Haiti, and representatives from American Chambers across the hemisphere.

The Board received comprehensive briefings on macroeconomic trends, hemispheric security dynamics, U.S. trade and industrial policy direction, supply chain reconfiguration, and evolving geopolitical considerations. Of particular note was the apparent recalibration of U.S. regional engagement toward a more assertive hemispheric framework, with increased emphasis on strategic competition, supply chain resilience, economic security, and near-shoring within the Americas.

Following deliberations, the Governing Board adopted the following strategic policy priorities to guide AACCLA’s advocacy and engagement efforts over the coming year: Trade & Trad Facilitation (including the continued promotion of HOPE/HELP renewal and other near-shoring initiatives), Rule of Law, Digital Policy, Intellectual Property, Energy & Health Policy.
