Digicel Group breaks ground in Port-au-Prince for a hotel under the flagship of Marriott Hotels and Resorts.
Hotel chain Marriott International expects to open its first hotel in Haiti, a 173 room hotel that will cost $45 million.
The hotel will be run by Marriott and owned by a unit of Digicel Group, the biggest cell phone operator in Haiti. Digicel Group expects construction to start in 2013 and should end by 2014.
The hotel will be located in Port-au-Prince and will feature 168 rooms and 5 suites with such amenities as high-speed Internet, flat-screen televisions and 24-hour room service. It also will include nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center and swimming pool.
