Amcham hosted a luncheon at Hotel Montana on September 10, 2013 where Dr. Christopher Lingle made a presentation on the success of several Asian countries in Asia and what Haiti could do to push for solid GDP growth. About 70 people were in attendance to hear about a new vision for Haiti.

Philippe Armand, President of Amcham Haiti, met Dr. Lingle in Guatemala during an AACCLA Conference this past June and wanted the Haitian Private Sector to hear Dr. Lingle’s views about how less developed countries could compete with developed countries. Accorinding to Mr. Armand this was a must for all businessmen to attend. Though some may not agree with  Dr. Lingle, many attendees walked away with new ideas and concepts on what could benefit the country.

Dr. Lingle enjoyed his stay in Haiti which reminded him of many Asian countries two decades ago. However, Haiti does have a lot of potential, it just needs the policies to foster investment and less on aid.
